Phoenix Seagaia Resort Koki Tsurumi of the Phoenix Golf Academy - Lesson of the Year Award -

Koki Tsurumi (Director of Instruction) at the Phoenix Golf Academy, a facility of Phoenix Resort K.K. (Hamayama, Yamazaki-cho, Miyazaki City, Miyazaki Prefecture, president and CEO: Yasuyuki Maruyama), which operates the Phoenix Seagiai Resort, has been selected as “Lesson of the Year” in the 2007 Golf Digest Awards sponsored by Golf Digest magazine.

The 2007 Golf Digest Awards sponsored by Golf Digest are awards that are presented to persons, works and clubs that contributed to golf and the golf world and the winners are selected for Lesson of the Year, Readers Grand Prix, Senior Grand Prix and Club of the Year based on votes received from 29,665 general golfers.

Lesson of the Year, the award received by Tsurumi, is presented to persons who have contributed to the development of the golf world by providing convincing lessons to many amateur golfers. Tsurumi was involved in initiatives to improve the swing of Shiho Oyama for three years from 2004 to 2006, making her the first prize queen of last year. In addition, he has earned the strong trust of golfers and is highly acclaimed by them for his exceptional performance, arousing the sympathy of readers through his concise theory and diverse drills and culminating in the present award.

The award ceremony will be held at the Tokyo Prince Hotel on Monday, April 16, 2007.

He studied golf and English in Scotland. Becoming a member of the British PGA, he taught at the Gleneagles Hotel Golf Academy and was active in Scotland as a tour and lesson pro until February 2003. In 2002, he was the first in Japan to acquire a British PGA certificate and is well versed in the fields of sports science, body mechanics and nutrition. He has experience in instructing more than 1,000 golfers in Japan, Scotland and the UK. In addition, he has also ventured into instruction for golf professionals in Japan, earning their strong trust.

He has been affiliated with the present academy since April and launched the Golf Professional Development and Training Program for golfers aiming to pass the professional golfer test. Besides technique, he also focuses efforts on guidance in mental terms required by professional golfers.
